Cumann na mBunscol News


The boys and girls from Primary Five, Six and Seven took part in  a number of Cumann na mBunscol Blitzes held recently. The emphasis was on participation -  were all the children got the opportunity to play in competitive games with the children from all the local primary schools.  Great fun was had by all the children.


County Blitz 2011

A special County Football Blitz was held at the Athletic Grounds Armagh were we got to play teams from all over the county - Mullaghbawn, Cullyhanna, Portadown, Blackwatertown and Carnagat Newry!

Paddy McAntoish Cup - The Boy's Football Team played in the Paddy McAntoish Cup against schools from Armagh and Tyrone.  A great display was given by all the boys who lost out narrowly in the Semi Final.

Half Time Games Representatives

Congratulations to Cathal and Owen who played at half time of the Armagh V Kerry League Game at the Athletic Grounds - these games are organised by Armagh Cumann na mBunscol and Armagh Coaching and Games.  The boys got to meet GAA President Christy Cooney and Cardinal Brady.  Congratulations also to Zara who played at the Galway Game.  Zara is pictured below with Armagh Captain Stephen McDonnell.

Hurling Development Squad

Well done to the three members of the Primary School Hurling Development Squad Cathal McBride, Stephen McKearney and Shane McNaughton who travelled to Galway recently to take part in a weekend of Hurling with thirty other boys from around the county.    Excellent achieved boys!!


Congratulations to the Boy's Football Team who won the Mid Armagh Mini Boys League sponsored by Paddy Morgan.  The competition involved five local primary schools who played a round robin of games with the 1st and 2nd placed teams securing a place in the prestigious cup final.  The boy's faces St John's Middletown in a tough final placed in torrential rain.  The battled hard and came from a two point deficit at half time to overall winners with a three point lead on the final whistle. Congratulations to Mr Mone and his team on this, the first football cup to be won by Our Lady's & St Mochua's PS.
The Girl's Mini League saw our girl's teamqualify for the shield final and while they did not secure a winning spot they can be proud of themselves for the excellent skill and team spirit the demonstrated - the girls were presented with a silver medal to mark their success!!
