Girl's Win Paddy Morgan Championship

History was made at our school today when our Girl's Football Team won Cumann na mBunscol's Ard Mhacha Girl's Paddy Morgan Cup for the first time.  Indeed it is the first time that the girls have brought home any football silverware.  Having beaten St John's Middletown and St Mary's Granemore our girl's topped their group to secure a semi final with St Jarlath's Blackwatertown.  After a strong display of fantastic football and great team effort the girls made it through to final with a second meeting of the day with St John's Middletown.  From the start the girls played with  tenacity and confidence that ensured that they would take home the much coveted trophy.  The school is delighted with this magnificent achievement.  Many of the teachers from the other schools in attendace today said that our team was the best ever girl's team they have seen at this level!  We will not hand back this cup easily!!

Mr Farrell, who is Chairman of Cumann na mBunscol Ard Mhacha had the pleasure and honour of presenting the cup to his own team!  The school would like to thank the efforts of Mr Farrell, Mr Mone, Mr Murray and all teachers and Club Mentors who have worked with these girls over the years!  The fruits of their work and the efforts and determination of the girls themselves was rewarded today!!
